Surgery was a success....and on to Halloween!

The Princess ALL done up!
Obviously, she was not happy about this picture or the outfit. :)
She was not very happy in this picture, but not sure why.
When her night boyfriend decided to take the Spongebob outfit off, she was thrilled!
Seeing the Spongebob outfit, she was not sure why her night boyfriend had become Spongebob.
Playing with all of her new toys! Can we say S-P-O-I-L-E-D!!!!!
Putting toys in her fairy basket....
Seeing her costume for the first time, she liked the basket more~Go figure :)

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to let you know how Jenna has been in the last day or so. She came through surgery fine, no complications. She was very emotional and anxious when she woke up after surgery (which was by the time she came back up from the OR~go figure), so eventually we had to give her a little Morphine and Tylenol to help ease everything. Typically most kids do not have any problems or pain with this surgery, but again, Jenna is not the norm. So, Dr. Inge was very pleased with the surgery, it only took him about 45 minutes to do. He showed us pics of her stomach on the outside and liver (yay! more to add to the scrapbook), and was very pleased with how her stomach looked, it was very healthy and normal looking. So, it is very important now over the next two weeks to make sure that the area is not pulled or tugged on in any way. It takes this long for "mother nature" to take it course of having the stomach adhere to the abdominal wall. So, we just have to make sure the stitches stay in place and the tube coming off of it stays taped to her stomach. Geezz..what a task to do with a toddler! But, so far she has done well for the most part. Initially we had to restrain her hand down to keep from picking at it, but she is fine now. Her belly button is all covered and bandaged because that is one of the sites that he goes through for the surgery. So, hopefully she will be fine with this for the time being. They had the tube attached to a drain trap for about the first 24 hours and now she has moved onto feeds. She is tolerating everything so far and will be to goal by morning, same as before 40ml per hour. This morning she did not have any vomiting or gagging through the day which is great, so hopefully the tube was doing a majority of that, cross your fingers! In the long run, I think having this tube placed was the best thing for her so that she will not have to worry about relying completely on her to get the calories in, because we can put through the tube if needed overnight while she sleeps. So, this morning she had a blast with the staff, we slept in a little. They cut out a pillow case and made her a ghost, which was funny, but did not last, Jenna hated it. She stayed up all day from 6:30a to 5p, and finally crashed for a little nap. We put her in her costume for the day staff, but it only lasted about 5 minutes. Everyone just oooohhed and ahhhhd over her. This evening, she woke up and had a shock, her night boyfriend had borrowed a SPongebob costume and came into her room. She was a little nervous at first and then warmed up to him. I don't think that she liked the idea of him being in that costume. She was thrilled when he was himself again. We put her in her costume for the night staff, which again everyone loved. She got lots of toys all day from "special people" (not supposed to name), which she absolutely loved! She is soooo spoiled here. What are we going to do when we move?!?! Anyway, it was a great day, even though at times she was a grump, but that is ok, she is entitled to this considering everything she has gone through. I tried wearing a witch hat, and she made me take it off, she did not like that idea at all. Check out the pics I was able to get, she refused to look at the camara. :(
Anyway, right now Daddy is trying to get her to sleep, which is not going great. For some reason today she does not want to sleep. Hopefully she will continue to do fine and we will be on our way home. They weighed her this evening and she is 27.94 pounds! A little less from before, but I think that she has lost her fluid weight finally. We want to thank everyone again for all of the prayers and support, they came through yesterday! Keep them coming! I will keep you posted on how she is doing. Miss you all!

Love, Jenny, Justin and Jenna
