Better day # 2!!!!

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to write a quick note on Jenna. Her nurse told us this am that she was a "Rockstar" last night, no issues. Today, she has been quiet as well. Her xray this am showed that her right lung is still collapsed a little, with a little fluid showing. They gave her some water pills to help the fluid come off, this seems to have helped. She is completely off the one protectant medicine for her stomach, she only needed it for precaution reasons for a couple of days. She is still taking all the other medicines to coat and protect her stomach though. She is still on her narcotic regiman through IV and her drips. She seems to still be in her "happy place". She woke up a few times today, stayed awake for a couple of minutes and watched Dora and held her balloons. Then she would fall back asleep. We have been watching the same Dora DVD continuously for three days now. We are going to have to bring more over tomorrow. :) Chett her resident doctor has been trying to get in touch with the surgery group to determine still when her diaphragm surgery is going to be. Dr. Inge is in Chicago today, but will return tomorrow. They are hoping her surgery will be in the next couple of days. If they are not able to do it before the end of the week, then Dr. E. said he is going to do it himself, traditional style (open surgery) because he does not want it to be postponed longer than needed. He would like to try and move forward soon so that she does not have to be on the ventilator longer than needed. So, we will see when it will be. The doctors also spoke with GI today and they stated that it would be fine for Jenna to begin feeds again tomorrow, at 5ml per hour. Yeah, food! Of course this will stop once she has surgery again, but at least she will get a little now. Other than that she has had no new changes.

We are so happy to today has been so quiet and she had no changes or anything bad happen, this is a relief. There is a certain fellow which always has Jenna on the days that are bad for her, he told us today that after a while you get attached to these patients, but with Jenna this is starting to become personal. Haha, since she always "acts up" when he is on. But he said that when he is on this week, they are going to have pizza and a movie-Dora preferably, no crazy issues to happen. So, hopefully things will continue to go well, just baby steps. Hoepfully we will get a time and date soon for surgery.

I want to say that I completely agree with what Justin stated in his post, Jenna is here for a purpose, God has a reason for her. I feel like that someday, she will be able to stand up and tell everyone about her fight. She is making a statement now, just not vocally-but she is definately being noticed. So, we are so proud of our baby girl and how tough she is. I have thanked God everyday for giving her to me. Please continue to pray for her, and us during this time. Thanks to everyone for everything again and we will keep you posted. Talk soon.

Love, Jenny, Justin and Jenna
