Leaps and Bounds....

Posted Sep 12, 2007 12:16pm

Hello everyone,
Sorry we have not wrote any new information in a while. Jenna is doing well at this time. She did have a little cold over the weekend, but is doing better. We visited the pediatrician to make sure that she was fine, report was just upper respiratory, no infection. She now weighs 11 lbs. 15 1/2 oz, and is 24 inches long!! We are so proud. At the visit they checked her oxygen level which was 78. A little on the low end for her norm, but still ok.
She is now attempting to roll. If we place her on her side, she can move herself onto her belly. She is not a big fan of tummy time, but we attempt that a few times a day. She has very good head control too. She can pick up small objects now and bring them to her mouth and above her head. Her favorite though is her fingers. Go figure, you buy toys for the child and she would rather have the free item. Haha. Yesterday she figured out that she can grab her feet and bring them to her mouth. She is enoying that a lot. Anyway, daddy and I are very happy with her growth. She still gets tired easily and likes to take her naps. That is fine because if she cannot fall asleep, she is very cranky.
Her last visit at the Cardiologist in August went very well. He arranged for her to have another echocardiogram, which had a good report. He said that there has been no changes to her heart at this time since birth. However, he spoke with Cincinnati and the surgeons would like to proceed with surgery. The meeting with the board of doctors was completed and went well. Dr. Manning and Dr. Eghtesady would like to perform the surgery together once she has reached six months of age. We received a call with the dates this week. We will be going on the 27th of this month to meet with Dr. Eghtesady to discuss details of what will be performed, and having another echo and MRI done. We will arrive October 8th to have bloodwork, chest xray and other testing performed. We will also meet with the nurse practitioners to discuss exact times and answer last minute questions. Surgery will be completed the next day on October 9, tentative time of 7:30am. The surgery being completed is called Unifocalization. It cannot be determined until the surgery is being performed if they will have to return to do another surgery.
At this time, Justin and I would like to have everyone continue to keep our family (especially Jenna)in your thoughts and prayers. Our baby girl has a very tough road ahead and she can use all the help she can get. Thanks again to everyone and we will keep you posted as she progresses after surgery.

Love,Jenny, Justin and Jenna
