Today has been a good day. Jenna has made strides today, but still taking baby steps. She was off the Nitric Oxide once we came in this am and has stayed off for over 18 hours now, yeah!! They pulled her pigtail chest tube out this morning, which she did well with. Today was a good day. A new attending doctor came on Dr. Lorts. This was the first time that we met her, but she is very familiar with Jenna as she has met her in prior admissions for her heart caths. The plan for Jenna today was to just relax, not "rock her boat" too much and keep her calm and comfortable. She did not have any episodes of issues with her blood pressure/heartrate/oxygen

Evening of Friday August 7 to Saturday August 8, 2009The evening after Jenna's surgery was pretty quiet. They wanted to try to wean her Versed and Fentanyl drips and start her on Morphine and Dex drips for sedation and paralytic. August 7, 2009Just wanted to let everyone know that Jenna is doing great. She came out of surgery around 10:30a-we were able to see her around 12:30 finally. The patch was opened about half with a punch hole. She is resting right now. He wants her to relax this weekend and keep comfortable. August 6, 2009Today we arrived and Jenna was doing well, she had a good night and remained quiet and calm. So well, that the nurses were able to clean her up and even put her hair in pigtails with purple ribbon. So cute! She went down for her cath around 12. We took her to the lab in what the nurse practitioner called "Jenna's parade", along with all of her accessories (her iv's, machines, etc.)

Evening of August 5, 2009This afternoon Jenna's surgeon Dr. E stopped by to discuss her situation. He said that we are going to do a heart cath tomorrow around 11am to obtain diagnostic results on her actual pressures in her heart. We arrived this am on the unit to see that they were preparing for extubation. She did well through the night on the anesthetic medication and was sleeping well. When the doctors rounded, they stated that she had developed a pleural effusion (fluid pocket on the lungs) in her right upper lobe. They decided to place a pigtail tube in to drain the fluid off.
