Hello everyone,
Just wanted to post on how things are going. Today we slept in a little bit and arrived over at the hospital a little late in the morning. Much to our dismay, we found out that Miss Jenna had vomited early in the morning. We are hopeful that it is possible that maybe the change in her volume of feeds was too much for her, which would cause her to be sick. So, again we have adjusted her feeds, hopefully better luck tonight. The Apria (medical supply) group came by today to bring us our vent, pulse ox, oxygen, etc to take for our trip home. We spent about two hours with her going over everything, since they are slightly different from what she is on now. We made it through though. We spoke with the care manager here and nurse practitioner about the status of being discharged and they said that the supply group will not admit her as a patient on Fridays, so they will need to talk to them first about what will go happen at this point. She said we may have to wait until Monday to leave, uggggg......Also they were finishing up other things, appointments, etc in order for us to get home.
So, this afternoon we were able to finally get her down for a nap. Today was Justin's birthday, so I took him to lunch, The Cheesecake Factory, yummmm....He enjoyed it, it was nice to get away for a bit. Everyone give him a hard time when you see him, he has finally hit the big 3-0! When we made it back though, we found out that the care manager stopped by again and left us a message. She said that the group will not take us Friday and we can either leave Thursday or Monday, our choice. Hello, we would for sure pick Thursday! Justin is off this week with me, so it would be easier for him to be there when we go home. So, right now the tentative date to leave is Thursday. We are going to speak with everyone in rounds in the am regarding insurance auth, nursing coverage, etc to make sure that all is in place before we leave. I feel like things are really moving fast now and am afraid we are going to miss something. We are shooting to leave by noon on Thursday if for sure everything is ready, since we have a 3 hour drive ahead of us and the supply group will have to come out when we get there.
So, Jenna did ok eating today. She is kind of having a off day, but who doesn't. The only thing that she really consumed was junk food, cheetos, brownies. Go figure. Anyway, all of her CICU friends continue to stop by to say their goodbyes. That means so much to us that they go out of their way to see us off. Thanks you all! Right now we are trying to get her to sleep, hopefully soon. She continues to improve with sounds via her valve and attempting to walk. OT said that she walked halfway across the room today with assistance! She is doing great. Tonight she insisted on putting on her spongebob crocs and getting in the floor to walk some. You go Jenna! So proud!
So, as before, we will keep you posted on her status. We will let everyone know if we are coming home for sure on Thursday. Keep in mind, yes we appreciate all the love and support from everyone, but we ask that Jenna has no visitors at this time, since we are just arriving home and still in flu season. Thanks again to everyone for everything. Love you all! We are almost home! Can't believe it!
Love, Jenny Justin and Jenna
